Crochet/Stiffening a felted hat

Question
I have recently crocheted a pure wool hat that was then felted in the washing machine.  While it turned out a perfect fit and style it is not quite stiff enough.  I need to stiffen without any discolouration as it is just off white in colour.  Hoping you can help.

Answer
Hey, Julie! If it were just crochet, there are several solutions, but felt doesn't take well to stiffning, because it's flexible by nature.  Since it's off white, you might be able to use a watered down white glue, without any discoloration, and a good chance of light stiffening. Mix any white glue at 4 parts water to one part glue, mix it well, soak the hat until the felt is saturated, then put it on a form to dry. It will probably require drying overnight, but you'll have time to shape it as it dries. I can't guarantee that this will work, but it is all I can suggest.
