Crochet/Joining two pieces

Question
Hi! I am working on a baby blanket and cannot figure out how I attached the first two pieces together!  I have a third to attach but, I don't know how to do so. I even took out part of the one that I did before but, to no avail!  I'm (obviously)a beginner- I learned as a child and have just rediscovered how much I love crochet! I'd really appreciate any assistance with a stitch that I can do (meaning easy) that will link three different-colored and separate pieces together.  I did not use a pattern; each piece is just chain then alternating rows of sc and dc and finished with slip stitch.  Thank you so much! Dawn

Answer
Hey, Dawn!

Hold two of the pieces together, with the right sides facing each other (right side means, what will be the top of the blanket, as opposed to the bottoms side). Use a plastic darning needle, and whatever color yarn you're using, and use a whip stitch on the outside ridge of each stitch, making sure you can match the stitches on each piece as you work down each side. The following link will take you to a visual of how to do this.  It say's for squares, but works equally well on larger pieces.

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
