Question
I'm working on a baby bootie pattern and stuck on a part.
"rows 2-7(9,11,13): turn, skip first sc,sc in next 6(9,12,12) sc across instep, sc in next 2 sc along side of bootie. At end of last row, do not fasten off and do not turn."
I don't understand what to do in the part "sc across instep".

Answer
Hey,Wendy! At the end of row 1, you'll turn, skip the first sc, and sc in the next 6,(or 9,or 12,or 12) sc's across the instep, (which is the top part of the bootie) Then sc in the next 2 sc along the side. The instep starts at the toe, and you'll be working back & forth across the instep and 2 sc on each side.

So, repeat rows 2 thru 7,turning at the end of each row, and working back across the instep you're building with each row. At the end of row 7, don't turn, just start on row 8.

Hope this helps!
Best,  Bea
