AboutMarla Expertise I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.
Experience I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.
Question Hi, I have a pattern for a girls sweater, the pattern of the stitch is as follows *(sc,ch 1,dc)in next st, skip 2 sts,rep from * across..........my question is when working pattern all seems well but when i have to decrease, it states.....(work decreases within each 3-st group by omitting sts in the following order as needed : ch-1, dc, sc.) always begin and end rows with sc.
I'm not getting what there saying the area it is decreasing is at armhole shaping.
the pattern is called "Snow Girl" from CROCHET MAGAZINE November 2004 pages 9-11 and 49 DESIGNED by BELINDA "BENDY' CARTER.
Answer Hi!
Thanks for asking! Unfortunately, I do not have that issue. I only have January and March for that year. The directions are confusing to me, also. One way I think it could be (but may not necessarily be right) is that as you crochet using the pattern, in the first 3-stitch group you omit the ch-1, the second group you omit the dc, and the third group you omit the sc. But that still doesn’t seem right, because you end up with a ch 1 and then another ch 1 right after that. If you had a subscription for that magazine, perhaps you could look at later issues to see if it was a typo, or something left out, and there was a correction. I am sorry I can’t be of any more help. Good luck with the pattern. I’ll ponder over it and see if I can come up with another interpretation.
