Crochet/crocheting beanies

Question
I am just learning how to crochet a beanie, I have made quite a few already and they are fairly good.  My problem is that the top starts to ripple as I crochet around the circle.  It doesn't seem to start until it's about 4-5 inches around.  I have been successful in making one beanie that didn't do this and I have no idea what I did differently.  Do you know what might be causing this?  I can send a pic if needed.

Ok, well that is the tension. Is it a pattern? or are you doing it from one you created?

Adjust the needle and see if that makes a difference. Also adjust the tension. The stitches should be even, and that eliminates ripples.

Sometimes when you do hats, they will be a small ripple, but once you block it a bit (stretch it) it should then be nice and smooth.

I do hope this helps you out.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

Happy hooking
