Crochet/I have cut off my starting rows

Question
I was just about to finish a baby blanket, and the first 6 inches were alot wider than the rest. It almost looked stretched out. I probably screwed up badly, b/c I decided to cut off the part that looked bad. I am running a yarn thru the loose loops in order to stop fraying. I thought about threading a chain stitch thru the loops, and then maybe putting a ribbon around the edging, before the border. Hopefully I have not ruined this piece! Any ideas?
Thanks.

Answer
Geez, Mary ann! That was a daring thing to do! It will be a miracle if more of it doesn't unravel! The chain stitch might work to keep it together, but you'd have to put wide ribbon on both sides to cover it up. I don't know if it's ruined or not, but you'll know when you start trying to fix it! It's just never a good idea to cut a crochet piece, because it's just one strand of yarn running through the whole piece, but you might be able to pull it off!
Sorry I can't be more help, but I wish you luck!

I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items.
