Crochet/How to skip sc and ch 1 across a row

Question
Ed, I'm confused with the following instruction:

Left Armhole And Side Edge-Row 1 (Cluster Row
– Wrong Side): Ch 3, [Cl in next sc, ch 1, skip next sc, dc
in next sc, skip next sc, ch 1] 11 (12, 14) times, Cl in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, tr in next sc; turn and leave remaining sts unworked – 12 (13, 15) Cl.

It says to "skip next sc, ch 1] 11 (12, 14) times, then
continue with Cl in next sc, etc.  How do you "skip a stitch and ch 1]" and continue with a cluster?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Answer
Madeline:

A cluster stitch is wider, so skipping stitches is normal. So you would do your one cluster, then skip the SC and CH1 and do the next cluster on the following stitch. Now make sure to finish the cluster stitch before moving to the next one. I believe this is where you got confused. you are not carrying over the stitch, but making a new one at each spot.

Do hope this helps you

Thanks and anything else, please let me know

Happy Hooking
