Question
Dear Ed,

I'd like to try my hand at crocheting an afghan, but
am lost on which hook would be best, what all the abbreviations mean, different stitches, etc.  Do you have any suggestions regarding where I can find this information?  Most of the crochet work that I've done in the past has been on winter scarves, and the like.

Answer
Kenneth:

That is great that you are wanting to crochet. I enjoy it very much and to me is very relaxing.

Now to begin, I would probably start off with a granny square afghan. Its simple, yes very nice.

I have attached a few links that I believe will help you out.

and some videos that are very helpful
