AboutMarla Expertise I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.
Experience I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.
Question I am on the last row of a wheat doily. There are picots worked around it. The directions talk about making the first picot then it say[V-st of dc, ch 6, sc in 5th ch from hook (picot), ch e and dc in next V-st] 7 times. First off what is this V-st of dc, it is worded strangely. I did what I thought was what they were asking and ended up with 9 picots where in the picture there are 8. I did take a pictures of the 15th row and my attempt at row 16. If you could send me an email I could forward those two pics and also a picture of the instructions for row 15 and 16. If you can, could you re-write row 16 so I can understand what they are looking for? Thank you. A lot to ask I know.I will see if I can attach the picture of row 15 just in case I can't get the other two pictures to you. Sorry I put the picture in but it kept asking for an Image Title and I didn't know what that was. I tried doily but it didn't work. So see what you can do. Thanks.
Answer Hi Burnetta!
Thanks for asking! I know somewhere I have a pattern for a wheat doily. In fact I made one. Please let me know where you found it, because I have a lot of doily patterns in numerous leaflets, like "Leisure Arts", American School of Needlework, and "star" (old leaflets), etc. Then if I have it, you won't have to send me the pattern. The V stitches that I have done is when you dc in a st like a sc, then you ch once or twice, then dc in the same st, making it look like a "V". Hope to hear from you soon.
