About Marla
Expertise
I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience
I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.

Question
My mom was crocheting in the waiting room at the hospital while my dad was in surgery. A fellow crocheter showed my mom a book she had.  My mom loved it, but she was called back before she finished or could write down the title.  Some of the patterns include: Amish stripes, Tumbling Blocks (not a baby one, it was brown), and one joining crochet and cellcloth.  I have searched to no avail.  I would love to surprise her with it.  Any assistance in locating this book is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Alysha!
Thanks for asking! I did a quick look at some of my books.
Could it have been a book called “The crocheter’s Quilt Book?  Or was it more of a leaflet type, like “Leisure Arts” or American School of Needlework”? I have a copy. It is by Elyse Sommer. It is hardbound, with 35 patterns and 168 pages. The names of the patterns are not the same as what your mom said, but if your mom is a quilter, she more than likely recognized the patterns, rather than the names the book called them. I am not a quilter, so I don’t know too many quilt patterns by name. Also the ISBN for this copy is 0-02-609170-4. I hope this is what you are looking for. I’ll look through my other leaflets to see if I can find anything. Perhaps if you try a web search to see if this is it, and if it is, maybe you can order it. Let me know if this is what you are looking for. Good luck!

Marla
