Question
Hello.  I am crocheting a hat.  one of the steps says: ch 1, work even in sc.  I am not sure what they are refering to when they say work even in sc.  Is there something that I am missing?? Also,  I am on round 15 of this hat, there are only 23 rounds and it isn't getting any smaller.

Answer
Hey, Kami!  To work even, just means to put one sc in each sc, on that row. You have been increasing the size, up until now, and the work even row will have no increases. Most likely, you will start decreasing, in the row after that. You will be skipping sc's, until probably the last round. Sounds like you're right on track!

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
