About Bea Harrell
Expertise
I consider my self an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.

Experience

Experience in the art of crochet is
40 + years crocheting for myself, my family & occasionally doing commissioned work.

QUESTION: Hi Bea,
I got emails from Shirley Brown, The Technical Editor from Anni's Attic (the web site that post the free patterns that i downloaded).
She gave me the explanations on Rnd 9. If you have the instruction of Rnd 9 with you now, i would like to have the instruction from you as well tomorrow.
Thank you very much for your time and your assistance,

Best Regard,

Ummu

ANSWER: Hi, Ummu!  Just checking to be sure you are making progress with your pattern! Let me know how its going!

Best,  Bea

QUESTION: Thank you for your attention Bea. Yes i could continue to work on the pattern, and if you still have the instruction that i sent you, i finished working on Rnd 9, 10, 11, and FIRST MOTIF... and now i am on "SECOND MOTIF" but i have problem to join it with the last pattern that i made before.

In the Rnd 4 of  SECOND MOTIF, it states there... :

sl st to tip of first petal, ch 1, sc in same place as last sl st, ch 3, sl st in first free lp on previous motif following last joining, ch 3, sc in tip of next petal on 2nd motif,  ..... ..... .....

Which one is "free lp on previous motif".... i confuse about it. And i dont know exactly how actually i should do if the instruction asks to "fasten off"
Would you mind helping me on these? I sent question to Shirley Brown as well (the technical editor) but i will really appreciate any response from you as well

Regards,
Ummu

Answer
Good for you! The "last joining" on the previous motif, is the *ch 7, sc in tip of next petal, join with a sl st in first sc. Fasten off. (this means to break your thread, and tie it off) So, the first free loop on the first motif is the one just after the "sl st in first sc "on the first motif, which is the ch 7 loop. So sl st in that ch 7 loop, Then ch 3,and sc in tip of the next petal on the second motif, then ch 3 & tr in the next free space on the center (those spaces are the little "boxes', around the edge of the center.) This will help you see how the rest of the pattern works!

Best Wishes,  Bea
