Question
Hi, I'm fairly new to crocheting, but I looked up a few simple terms before I started. The pattern I'm referring to has been discussed here before:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Crochet-3235/2008/1/Pattern-help-identifying-stiches....

"Row 1 (right side): Work 1 sc into 2nd sc from hook. *Skip 2 ch, 1 dc into next ch, ch 1. Into same stitch as last dc, work [1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc]. Skip 2nd 2ch, 1 sc into next ch. Rep from * to end."

The answer will probably be completely obvious and fairly simple, but I can't figure out what it means by 'skip 2nd 2 ch'.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi,Japneet! When you started this pattern, you made a chain of 26 stitches. On row one, it says "work 1 sc into 2nd stitch from hook.Once that's done, you will *skip 2 more of those chains and in the next ch, you will put 1 dc, ch 1, then,Into that same stitch, make (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc.). Skip the next 2 chains, and make a sc into the next ch, and repeat from * to the end of the row.

I hope this helps!

Best,  Bea

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
