Question
I am crocheting matinee coat commencing at neck edge. 1st row - 1 tr into each ch - turn with 2 ch - OK - second row *2tr, 2tr into next tr, 2tr - repeat .....  What does the 1st 2tr and last 2tr go into.  Each following row increases - 3tr, 2tr into next tr, 3tr

Answer
Hi, Kay! Normally the ch 2 would serve as the first trc, in the 2trc group, but if your pattern didn't specify that, then you'll be putting 2 trc in each of the trc you made on round 1. My first though was that the first 2trc was a typo, but row 3 starts the same way, so it must be right. So, those first 2trc, go into the first trc of row one,the next 2trc goes in the 2nd trc, ect. On row 3 put 3trc in the first trc of that 2trc group from row 2...ect.

Hope this helps!

Best,  Bea

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
