Crochet/Yarn bobbins

Question
Does each "bobbin" (using the plastic bottle method) contain its own separate skein of yarn? Have been crocheting for more than 50 years but can't quite get the feeling for changing yarn colors with the bobbin method.  Any and all help is appreciated.
Thank you

Answer
Hey, Janet! Each color needs it's own bottle. If your color changes aren't too far apart then use this suggestion, :
When working patterns where you have several color changes small distances apart (like a checker board for instance) I have found that it is much easier to carry the color you're not currently using across the previous row and crochet over it then it's where you are when you need it and you don't have those pesky little tails to weave in. I have really enjoyed doing color changes since I discovered this method.
If your distance is fairly far, then you'll need to move your bottle and its thread out of the way, and move your next color in place. I've never liked bobbin crochet, and I too have been crocheting for 45 years! It just always felt clumsy to me, so I never do patterns that require many changes in color!
I hope this helps!

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
