Crochet - How can I personalize my work?
Expert: Bea Harrell - 11/4/2009
Question I crochet doilies, including name doilies. Because of the open type weave, especially in filet crochet, I have not founda way to put my name and date on these pieces. ANy suggestions?

Answer Hey, Pat! Though I have never done this, my mother-in-law used to edge her filet work with a row of dc's and put her initials, one on each of 3 dc, on the back of her work. She did fantastic embroidery work, so she used those skills and a needle & thread to do it. I'm no good at sewing of any kind, so I could never do it! Other than that, I've never heard of a way to do that. I once had the idea to crochet a little tag of 2 rows of dc's and attach it to my work, and sign it with a waterproof pen, but I never did it, though I still think it would work! Sorry I couldn't be more help!
Best, Bea
