AboutMarla Expertise I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.
Experience I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.
Question I've got a couple crochet patterns using the term "Miss" with a number, i.e., Row 1: "Miss 5, leave a string of 5", then chain 36"; Row 2: "Miss 13, sc in first chain . . ."
What does the term "Miss" mean. How do I follow that instruction? Thanks so much!
Answer Hi Ginger!
Thanks for asking! I haven't seen the term "miss" in any instructions that I remember, but then many authors of patterns have different versions of some stitches. My first thought would be that it means the same as "skip". So you would skip those 5 or 13 stitches. If that doesn't look right or make sense when you do the next row, let me know, and if possible send me the pattern, or the instructions for the first few rows, and I'll try to figure it out. I hope this helps! Good luck with your project!
