AboutMarla Expertise I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.
Experience I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.
Looks like you are also getting the same things. Sure let me know once done.
Even I use to mark in a pencil where am I.
One more thing can you just let me know after the 1st level of 10 pineapples how many pineapples you have started in the next level from Rnd 15 next level of pineapples start with the space shells in between them.
Thanks,
Anitha.

QUESTION: Thanks Marla for imeediate response.
Even i have got 6 pineapples (3 pineapples, 2 shell spaces, 2 pineapples, 2 shell spaces, 1 pineapple) but they are not in proper order i think. I had gone thru all Rnd once again and found that there was something wrong in Rnd 15 in the instruction. trying to fix it.
any how Thanks once again and let me know once you are done with this.
Thanks,
Anitha
ANSWER: Hi Anitha!
We are not the only ones. I went to google and did a search using this:
Crochet AND mistake AND "coffee table topper". I got the website "crochetville", and on the message board, someone mentions a mistake on rnd 19, but I think the troubles start sooner than that. It may be worth a look. Those 2dc ch 5 and 2dc are out of sync with the 3-shell groups. And your are right, there are some pineapples missing in the doily instructions. I'll try to take a look at it, too. I will be going out of town this weekend, but I will try to get something accomplished with this before I leave.

Hi Anitha!
Some more info: using that above website, there is an address that I copied and pasted into this letter: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2621896290067722669ZTsaWD. It shows the entire doily, and how it looks from a birds eye view. It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out with this picture.

QUESTION: Hi Marla,
At last I fixed the issues with this doily. The rep from * from Rnd 15 to Rnd 18 is the issue. * is misplaced. It should have been from the Beg shell (but we would do a shell while repeating).
Issue with Rnd 19 - there was an extra line. I removed it. Following is the corrected one
Rnd 19: Beg shell in shell, ch 2, sc in next ch-3 space, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space] 7 times, ch 2, shell in shell, ch 2, (dc, ch 3, dc) in single dc at top of Pineapple, ch 2, shell in shell, ch 2, sc in next ch-3 space, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space] 7 times, ch 2, shell in shell, * ch 2, (dc, ch 3, dc) in single dc at top of Pineapple, ch 2, shell in shell, ch 2, sc in next ch-3 space, [ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space] 7 times, ch 2, shell in shell, rep from *
Hope this will be useful for someone else in future. By mistake I had added it as an answer earlier and I was not sure if that is going to reach you.
I will let you know once I am done with this doily.
Thanks your help and interest.
Thanks,
Anitha.
Answer Hi Anitha!
I'm back! Thanks for the update. Sorry I didn’t get back to you right away after being away. I’ve been away from any computer. You are right; round 15 was when the problems started. Did you get a chance to look at the “birds eye view” of the other doily? That helped me a lot. From the other picture I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be symmetrical. I ended up drawing a circle to represent the doily, divided it into 20 sections (10 pineapples + the spaces between), labeled each section according to the full-view doily and arrived at the same conclusion you did. I am glad you were able to figure it out. I’m sorry I wasn’t much help. Good luck with this doily, and I hope the next one you do has correct instructions.
