About Marla
Expertise
I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience
I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.

Crochet - One end wider

Question
Hello!  I have just finished a baby afghan.  When I was blocking it, I realized that one end is about 4 inches wider than the other--it's not a gradual progression throughout the whole afghan--just affects the first 4-5 inches.  Is there anything I can do to shrink that one end or modify the afghan at all?

Answer
Hi Andrea!
Thank-you for the rating. I thought I would try to catch you before you started to unravel a lot. I know it is a painful thing to do. This puts a new perspective on things. Are you unraveling just to the point where your afghan just started to increase? What you may want to do is to check your gauge before the increase, and adjust accordingly. It is possible that your tension may have changed. Did the type of stitches chance, like from singe crochet to double crochet? But anyway, let me know. If you aren't sure about how the size changed, there is a possibility I may have that pattern. I do have some baby afghan patterns. Maybe I could see how this happened. Good luck!
