AboutMarla Expertise I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.
Experience I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.
Question I am making a granny square Afghan . My daughter loves the Georgia Bulldogs. I am looking to find a way to put the "G" in the middle of the afghan. Thank You
Answer Hi Vickie!
Thanks for asking! Granny squares are fun to make! Now, if you are making it with multiple squares, the best way, I think to do this is to get a piece of graph paper, and shade in the squares in the middle of the graph paper to make the letter “G”. Each block, for example would represent a granny square. Make these granny squares one color. Then decide how many squares go around the letter “G” to represent the afghan itself, and make these squares a contrasting color. You can sort of experiment with sizes of the G, to decide what size looks best. If you don’t have graph paper, then you can make one by drawing intersecting lines on notebook paper, or even print off a table that looks like graph paper from the computer. That would probably be easier.
I hope I gave you what you wanted. I am going out of town for a few days starting on Saturday morning, and won’t have access to a computer until Tuesday morning. I’ll set my vacation days to reflect that. But let me know if you have any more questions. Will it be black and red? Good luck!
