About Marla
Expertise
I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience
I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.

Question
Would you by chance know how I can make an "&" sign in single crochet that would only by six stitches high.  I tried to do it myself but unfortunately it did not look like "&".  I am putting bride and groom's name on afghan and did not want to put the word "and" between.  Thank you so much for you time.

Answer
HI Orma!
Thanks for asking. What you could do is find a cross-stitch pattern with the "&" and use it for a pattern in crochet. Or you could shade in squares on a piece of graph paper and use that for a pattern. Since it is a wedding gift, it may be best to use a practice piece before doing the real thing. If that still doesn't look right, maybe consider putting a heart between the names? Good luck!
