About Marla
Expertise
I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience
I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.

Question
I recently crochet an afghan in all shell stitch.  I took it to the dry cleaners had it blocked and cleaned to give as a gift.  When I picked it up it was totally flat! How do I get the shell shape back?  Thanks for any suggestions!

Answer
Hi Susan!
Thanks for asking! What a dilemma! I am sorry you have to go through this. It appears that they must have pressed it. You may first want to take it back to the cleaners and tell then you want the job done over again, since it did not come out right. Tell them you wanted it blocked, not pressed. And you don’t want it flattened.
If that doesn’t work, all I can think is that you put it on fluff in you dryer with no heat. You may want to consider using one of those mesh bags for delicate things. But it may have to be blocked again. They do come in large sizes. I think I got mine at a dollar store. The one I have can fit a bed sheet, and more. But this is only a suggestion.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Marla
