About Marla
Expertise
I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience
I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.

Crochet - Lost pattern triangluar mesh with knitted flower border

Expert: Marla - 6/4/2009

Question
I made this shawl back in the 70's from a magazine, I saved it but can't find it.  The main shawl was a mesh design and the border was a knitted design with big multicolored flowers.

It starts with about 180-220 chains, then turn and DC in 9 chain, sk 3, DC, chain 5, sk 3, continue to end.

The problem I'm experiencing is I'm having trouble with the deceasing.

Do you know where I could find this pattern?.?.?

I found a few patterns on the net, however, they aren't the same one I used to have, when I first made it I didn't have any problems.  I don't knit so I just added fringe to the two sides, and shell border to the top.

Answer
Hi!
Thanks for asking. The 70's was full of flowers, wasn't it? I remember it well. The chance is very slim, but I do have a few magazines from the 70's. Do you remember if it was like, a McCalls, or Good housekeeping? Was it one of those huge magazines which is now normal size now? I don't have a lot of knitting books unless crochet is with them. I'll look and see if I have something like the pattern. If all you are having trouble with is the decreasing, I could help you with that, too.
