AboutMarla Expertise I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in hairpin lace, or the afghan stitch. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.
Experience I have been a crocheter for almost 30 years.
Question I have one of my grandmother's old crochet (maybe crochet rag) rugs that has a hole in it. Can it be repaired and if so can you recommend someone to mend it for me?
Answer Hi Kim!
Thanks for asking. It probably can be. I know how much it means to you. I repaired an afghan recently that a strand had broken, and was unraveling. It doesn’t look the same since I don’t have anymore of that dye lot, but it won’t unravel now. What you could do is ask your local dry cleanser if they know anybody who makes repairs. Maybe at your senior center there may be someone who could do it. Then check with you craft store to see if an employee or someone they know may be experienced in doing this sort of thing. You could also check to see if there is anyone who does alterations because they may have experience in crocheted or knitted clothing. Hopefully you will find someone with a loving touch. Good luck!
