Crochet/how to crochet letters on an afghan

Question
Hi, I hope you can help, I was told to crochet letters onto an afghan I needed to single crochet the afghan first then add the letters on.  This is definitely not working.
Do you have any ideas besides ripping out the afghan and starting again.
Thank you,
G

Answer
Well, if you don't want to start over, finish the afghan. Crochet a simple chain and form it into the letter while sewing it on with needle and thread.

The other alternative would be to embroider it on.

If you would have started from the beginning with the letters in mind, you could have carried two colors to create the letters using a graph, but thats about all I can think of.

Hope this helps.
