Crochet/decrease or increase crochet pattern size

Question
Hi, I was wondering if you knew of an easy way to decrease a pattern crochet size. I'm doing a slipper but the size is for adults, would like to make it for a baby if possible, also is there a way to also increase the pattern size? The only thing I can find about this is to change hook size or yarn. I would think you can reduce or enlarge with the stitches.
The beginning of the pattern begins with chaining 26.

Thanks for the question.

This is a tough one. Increasing that much is almost impossible. Yes the normal way of increasing is to change hook size, to meet the gauge. But going from adult to a baby that is a huge leap.

The only suggestions I can make, since I am assuming that you like the style of the slipper is cutting the pattern in half, BUT that may not work if you have special stitches or increases / decreases. If the pattern is just straight dc, then it may be possible.

I can suggest, smaller needle, and trying to cut the stitches in half and see if that will accomplish the look. You will need good pictures of a finished piece so you can keep the shape and look of the pattern.

I do hope that helped.

Happy Hooking
