Crochet/Afghan Pattern

Question
Hi Ed,
I'm a fellow "expert". I've read some of your responses and learned things from them.
I have crocheted for many years but I mostly work with the thread.  I don't make many yarn patterns except for a baby afghan from time to time.  Now I want to make a full size afghan for our closed in deck, something with rustic colors including greens and browns.  However, I want it to be solid, not having holes for "toes" to poke through.  I've looked on various websites and went to Hobby Lobby to look at books but everything seems so "frilly".  Do you know of any particular websites or pattern books that might have what I'm looking for.
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Patricia:

Thanks for the question. I feel honored that a fellow "expert" is asking me for assistance.

I came across the same issue not that long ago. I wanted a more solid afghan, not one with large gaps / holes.

What I did was a ripple afghan using the sc and hdc stitch. This created a interesting pattern because of the texture. I used three colors in mine, and was very happy with it.

Here is a link to a great site, that explains better how to make the ripple afghan.

I hope I was able to answer your question. I wish I could have included a picture of mine to show you how it looks, but it seems to have grown legs and ran away to my mothers house.

Should you need any assistance, please let me know.

Happy Hooking

Ed
