Crochet/Crocheting

Question
I need to chain enough stitches to reach 7 inches.  I am using baby weight yarn, G or H crochet hook, and that is the instructions on the pattern.  This is a project started by my church, a bare bones pattern for knit and crochet baby caps, to be sent to our missionaries.  I know there are going to be variations, crocheting style, stretching, etc., the count won't be perfect.  The majority of our folks knit, so far I'm the only crocheter, and they can't answer my crochet questions.  They cast on 70 stitches to reach their 7 inch length, would that be the same for crochet?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This is such a worth cause, helping babies stay warm, loved, and the people we help cannot provide these luxuries for their children.  Again, thank you so much.  Have a Blessed day..................Carolyn

Answer
Carolyn:

Thanks for the question.

That is a great project. Well I will assume they are doing the caps on the round, that is why they need so many stitches.

I have included a link of baby caps. I think you will be able to find a comparable pattern that will meet the need.

That is a great charity, I have done some baby coats and hat in the past for hospitals.

Should you need any assistance, please let me know.
