Crochet/Untangling Yarn

Question
Hi Ed ~

I love reading your advice.

A naughty kitty got into my yarn and it's been a nightmare trying to untangle it.  If you know any hints for this situation, I'd love to hear!  Also, is it better to unwind pull skeins and wind the yarn into balls?

Thanks much ~

Maura

Answer
Maura:

I can only envision the mess. When my naughty kitty did this, I just sat in front of the TV and gently untangled it. Do not pull on it, because that can set in the knots, and then you will really have a nightmare. Just follow the line of the yarn, open it up and you should be able to untangle it.

I do not unwind my skeins. Now if I purchase the yarn and they will wind it for free into a ball, I do take advantage of it. Let it be skein or ball, I like my yarn to be center pulled.

Suggestion so that your kitties does not do this again. Place the yarn inside of a zip lock bag, close it and just leave a small opening to feel the yarn out. This will actually keep the yarn clean and intact.

I do hope this helped. Thanks for the compliment on my advises. I do enjoy helping others, I think I missed my calling, should have been a teacher. Should you need any assistance, please let me know.

Happy Hooking
