Question
I am looking to find patterns for crocheting single individual letters of the alphabet.  I am making a blanket for my grandson and would like to crochet each letter of his name and sew them on to the blanket.  Anyone have patterns to work with?  I know there are patterns out there for fillet however that is not what I am seeking.  I just want to croceht s p e n c e r and nothing more.  Any help out there?

Hi Rena,
You're wanting to do Applique Crochet.  Annie's Attic has a book that I almost bought that does various surface crocheting including monograms.  This may be a start.

I have been crocheting for over 50 years. As a child growing up in New Orleans, LA, I had aunts and older cousins who taught me, but now they are all gone and sadly, there is no one who crochets in my area. I hope to be able to meet fellow crocheters through this website, and I'd be delighted if I could help someone answer a question. I'm sure I'll be asking my share, also. I specifically enjoy doilies and afghans. I really like designing filet crochet. I don't make clothes, other than hats and scarves.
