Question
Hi,
I want to make my adult son a personalized Afghan but have only found an baby afghan pattern to work with. I want the afghan to be a little bit bigger than 40"x35" something like 60"x60'. The pattern calls for to chain 126 and dc in forth chain from hook(124 dc)How many chains should I began with in order to obtain the size that I want?

Answer
If the pattern is made of baby yarn, use worsted weight. You can also use a larger hook that required. Either way, you need to create a gauge with the yarn you have chosen, and compare it to the gauge for the pattern. If your gauge is larger, you will need to determine how much larger, and what difference it will make with the overall size.

If you need to add stitches, the 126 stitches would be 2/3 of the width you need. That means you would start out with 189 chain.

Hope this helps.
