Question
HELP PLEASE! Rnd 1: With white, ch 4, 11 dc in fourth ch from hook; join with slip st to top of beginning ch, finish off, 12 stitches. Rnd 2: With right side facing, join Green with slip st in same st as joining; ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, (2 dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 1 ) around; join with slip st to first dc: 24 sts.  Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, decrease, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, *2 dc in next dc, decrease, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2; repeat from * around. My question is in Rnd 2 in the parentheses. No matter how many ways to come up with as to what they want me to do, none gives the right count of 24 sts. God Bless You and thank you for your help.

Answer
hey, Cheryl! The instructions in parentheses are to be repeated to the end of the rnd. Tie off the white thread from rnd 1, join the green with a slip stitch in the same stitch as the joining, ch3, dc in the same stitch again, 2dc in the next dc, ch 1, (2dc in each of the next two dc, ch 1) continue with just the instructions inside the parenthese, to the end of the row, slip stitch in the dc. You should now have 24 st.
Hope this helps!

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
