Crochet/Red Hearts Pattern in booklet doesn't make sense

Question
I purchased the booklet  ONE SQUARE MANY WAYS.  I made all the squares for the Flourescent Vision Throw which went fine, but now on to the assembly and nothing is making sense.  They say to join a color in any corner ch 1 space , but there arent any ch 1 spaces only ch2 spaces and then nothing seems to go right from there.  I am an experienced crocheter and haven't seen anythng like this.  Has anyone ever done this throw, and can I just do my own thing on the border.

Answer
Carolyn:

Thanks for the question.

I don't have that book. Unfortunately, there are times that a pattern is a bit "off". The only thing I can think is to join it on a ch 1, in the corner, since the corner piece will get 2 pieces (using up the ch 2).

You can always do any border you see fit. I have at times done the piece with one pattern, and then the border with another pattern.

I hope I was able to help. Should you need any assistance, please let me know.

Happy hooking
