Question

Cloche Hat
What stitch are they using in the attached image to create the layed/ribbed look.  I found the saranac stitch but when I try the instructions I found it doesn't produce these results

Answer
It is a single crochet ridge. Here is a page with an example (although done loosely):

It also provides some general directions. Basically, the sc is worked in the back loop only of each row.
