Question
I have been crocheting for year and love doing air freshener dolls and regular standing dolls.  I have a number of "Paradise" doll patterns that use steel hooks and #10 crochet cotton thread.  I don't due well crocheting with cotton thread and would like to convert the patterns so I can use worsted weight (or similar weight) yarn with B/D/F/G hooks.  I am more comfortable with worsted weight that with cotton thread. I would like to be able to crochet these dolls.  Would you be able to provide a chart or some information as to how to convert these patterns so I could use them.  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Aileen,
It seems that I ran across something when I was helping someone else.  I will try to locate it and get back to you.  It may be tomorrow, though, because I won't be home this evening.

Hi Aileen,
Unfortunately the chart I had seen is not what you are looking for.  However, thinking about it, I really don't knnow how you would crochet something with larger thread and the finished piece not be larger.  In some way, you'd have to reduce the number of stitches, and this may alter the integrity of the pattern.  Perhaps you can search for patterns already using yarn instead of thread.

Ed Matos had a similar question asked of him on March 6th of this year.  Go back to the place where you found my name and check out his answer.  That might help you.
I'm sorry I couldn't help you more.

Traditional Crochet and Filet Crochet (not clothes) I do more thread crochet than yarn.

Experience

I have been crocheting for over 50 years. As a child growing up in New Orleans, LA, I had aunts and older cousins who taught me, but now they are all gone and sadly, there is no one who crochets in my area. I hope to be able to meet fellow crocheters through this website, and I'd be delighted if I could help someone answer a question. I'm sure I'll be asking my share, also. I specifically enjoy doilies and afghans. I really like designing filet crochet. I don't make clothes, other than hats and scarves.

Education/Credentials
I learned as a child in the 50's from aunts and older cousins.
