Question
HI THERE. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, MY SISTER TAUGHT ME HOW TO MAKE THE AFGHAN BUT NOW I'VE LOST THE "formula".{SHE PASSED AWAY] I'VE TRIED THE WEB,ETC ,BUT TO NO AVAIL. I REMEMBER SOME OF IT; MAYBE YOU CAN HELP ME. MULTIPLES OF 12 BUT ONLY CROCHET 11 UP ADD 2 STITCHES CROCHET 11 SKIP 2 THE LAST ROW DOWN CROCHET 12 ADD 1 THEN TURN. HERE'S MY PROBLEM, I DON'T REMEMBER HOW TO DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF STITCHES FOR THE FOUNDATION CHAIN

Answer
Hey, Martha! There are so many different ripple patterns, that's its hard to say which one your making. The problem is there are 8,9,10 point patterns, which depends on the width of the piece. I'm sending you a link to free pattern central. There you will find several different patterns, and perhaps recognize your's, or just use one of the pattern if it's similar. When you get to the website, just scroll down to the 'r's'.

I hope this was of some help!

Expertise

I consider myself an expert in the field of hand crochet. I have been crocheting for 45 years. I can answer most question on the differnt stitches, as well as the methods used to create speciality items. The art of crochet, after 2 decades of being out of fashion, is enjoying a modest come back. I want to help those newcomers looking for a little/lot of help to get started. Once they are comfortable with the process, they can relax & begin to create the heirlooms of tomorrow.
