Expert: Marla - 7/1/2010
QuestionQUESTION: It was worked on one side first row 5dbl crochet shells with loop
next row was popcorn stitch rows alternated. so that the shell
and popcorn sat on each other every other row. one or 2 colors.
Instructions for this was on the large yarn skein not red heart that Zayre/kmart carried 1987-1989. Not sure of year.
I've tried to do this one from memory and doesn't want to work
appreciate any help
ANSWER: Hi Carole!
I'm back. I'm sorry, but I didn't have any luck finding the pattern amongst my labels. I tried some searching on the internet on various sites and through some of my other patterns, but didn't have any luck. It is possible I may have a similar pattern among my other patterns. Was the row of popcorns all popcorns or were there several stitches between them? About the only other alternative besides looking on the internet is to look at yarn labels in thrift stores or if you see any at garage sales. I'm sure that since I have yarn that goes way back, someone else may also. But let me know about that popcorn row. Good luck.

Yes, I have had that problem too. I think it was the 1lb. Bernat yarn
that had the original pattern. I have tried the suggestions that you
mentioned. No luck there. The popcorn row was either 5 sng or 5 dbl crochet with 9 or 10 single stitches in between each. worked so that the shell row could sit between the popcorn stitches. every other row. That is the problem can't remember exactly how many stitches. or how the rows ended. the first 4 rows were repeated throughout I think. the finishing rows at the top and bottom were shell rows. again don't remember how many
or how attached. I have found similar patterns also. I remember
something about a wedding pattern. Thank you for your help. I've tried before to get help and no one has gotten even this far thank you again.

AnswerHI Carole!
I sort of have it visualized now. Next time I go to a thrift shop I'll dig through the yarn to see if I can find it. I always look at their craft books, too, especially crochet. In looking through my patterns The closest I have found is are ripple (or chevron) with the popcorns. I still have a lot of patterns to look through, so I haven't given up yet. I will be out of town for the holiday, so I won't be near a computer until probably Tuesday.
Good luck!
