Crochet/Continuous granny square blanket

Question
I crocheted my granny square and have been crocheting continuously around and around and with each corner I crochet the two double crochet the two chains and the two more double crochet and I was looking at the blanket spread out on the floor and it looks a bit lopsided...corners match up but lopsided a bit.  Why?  I was careful, I thought.  Did I add stitches??

Answer
It is fairly easy to place a stitch where it is not supposed to be, or skip a stitch where it should be.

The only way you can determine what happened is to examine the blanket carefully. You might need to count each stitch to a side for a specific round. If all sides are the same, skip to a few rows larger.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but only a visual inspection could tell you exactly why.

Hope this helps.
