Question

Bib
I've been crocheting and knitting for about 5 years (self taught) and have never attempted anything more than scarves, blankets, etc. because patterns confuse me to no end!  My dear friend is having a baby boy in a month and they are doing a *monkey* theme for him.  I would LOVE to be able to do something spectacular like a crocheted stuffed monkey, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that, lol.  Seeing as how patterns make me feel like I'm not only dyslexic, but reading Japanese as well, what do you suggest so I can make *something* for my friend's son.

I am a very visual person, but there's no one around to "show me".  I've tried an assortment of books and online videos to no avail.

Can you help?  Included is a pic of the path I had in mind.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
If you look closely to the bib selected, you can see it starts with the face and an oval. If you make a chain and then work across it. When you get to the end, put 5 sts in the last chain, and then work back across the underside of the chain to create the oval. When you get to the first chain, put 4 additional sc there and join. Now you can do more additional rounds until you have the bottom face portion. When you get the bottom face, slightly decrease going back and forth to create the top portion of his head. Finish off.

Now you can create the dark portion which is just some short rows to form the little ears.

Lastly you add the two neck pieces.

Sorry I can't be more specific. Print a copy, and keep it handy.
