Question

Baby afghan
I am a newbie to crochet.  I have a fairly good understanding of the basics but having problems understanding a portion of this baby afghan.  It is called CrissCross. I think the step that is stumping me is the actual 'criss cross' part. I am going to type out what the pattern says. I was ok until I got to row 2. The step between the 4 plus signs is what has me baffled:
Ch 131 loosely.
Row 1: (right side): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (2 skipped chs count as first hdc) and in each ch across: 130 hdc.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), turn; *skip next hdc, dc in next hdc, ch 1,++++ working behind dc just made, dc in skipped hdc;++++ repeat from * across to last hdc, dc in last hdc.

I have attached a photo of afghan from pattern book.  It is the white blanket. Thank you for any help you can give to clarify how exactally I do this stitch!

Answer
Valerie:

Thanks for the question.

This stitch is a bit confusing, because we keep the piece always flat, and work on the front of the piece.

For this stitch, you skip one stitch, do the called for stitch on the next one, then moving the hook behind the just created stitch, you work the called for stitch on that previously skipped stitch from behind. This is a difficult one to explain written, so I have attached a link to a site that explains it very well (video)

Hope this helps. Should you need any assistance, please let me know.
