Question

Vintage Crochet Stitch
Good Afternoon,
I am looking for help in identifying a crochet stitch. I have been looking online for quite awhile now and I have had no luck.
I am hoping you may know the name of the stitch on the attached photo.
Thank You In Advance !!
Marcena Flynn

Answer
Hi Marcena!
Thanks for asking. I think it is broomstick lace. I went to this website: http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns2/accessories/MochiPlus-BroomstickStole.html and saw a pattern similar to the one you showed me. This link was from crochetpatterncentral.com. I have no experience with broomstick lace, so I am sorry I can’t help you any further than this.  Another expert may have experience with broomstick lace. I hope this is it. If any broomstick lace patterns don't look right, then try the "hairpin lace" patterns. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with hairpin lace, either. Good luck!

Expertise

I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in the afghan stitch, or hairpin lace. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Nearly all of my crochet magazines, leaflests, etc are over 5 years old. Many are from the 80's and before. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience

I have been a crocheter for over 30 years.
