Crochet/crocheting a rag rug

Question
How do you start a round rug.
I am using a Q hook and one inch
cotton material. I started crocheting the round
rug-but not sure of the beginning. It
seems there are so many ways to start a
circle. I would appreciate an easy way
to start my project. Thanks so much..Sharon

Answer
With something so large as rags, I would chain about 6. Then put as many dc stitches in the first chain as needed to make a flat circle. When you have enough stitches, slip stitch to the top of the first dc you made. Now chain about 4 or 5, and continue around adding stitches as needed to keep it flat.
