Question
Hi I am new to crocheting, I was put on bedrest and though this would be a great way to pass my time. I am trying to make a cell phone clutch. I figured out the stitches but as I am connecting my chains the entire thing is bunching up and spinning. Can you give me any tips to keep it straight?
Your Advice is greatly appreciated- Thank you

Answer
In crochet, the width of the hook should be near the width of the yarn. Spinning is caused by-
two stitches to one chain, tension is too tight. Before making the items, practice single crochet on 15 stitches, turn, chain 1 and single crochet back to the beginning.  Repeat until your 15 stitches make a rectangle. Holding the thread in the left hand for tension is important. A teacher might help until you crochet is more experienced.
