Question
Hi.  I have a question about a crochet baby blanket that someone has asked about before.  Here is the part I am having trouble with:

Row 2 – Ch 1, turn 1 sc in 1st dc, * ch 2, skip 3 dc, sc between next two dc, repeat from * across, ch 2, sc in top of last dc, ch 2, turn

I don't know how to sc BETWEEN next two dc.  Also, looking ahead, I don't know about the next row...particularly 2 dc in ch2 sp.  I guess I do two dc in the same chain?  What is sp?  (see below)

Row 3 – Dc in top of sc, * 2 dc in ch 2 sp, repeat * across, dc in top of last sc (105 sts)

Here is the link to the pattern ... http://www.knitting-n-crochet.com/baby-blanket-crochet-patterns.html

Thank you so much!!

Answer
Sheri:

Thanks for the question.

Between: Normally when you working stitches, you do them on the stitch below. In this case, you will do it in the space between the stitches. So if you look you have a slit between stitches, this is the opening they are referring to.

SP: this stands for space. In this case you have a chain 2 loop, and you will be doing the stitches in that loop, rather than attaching them to one of the stitches. This creates a better look, and it also allows movement in a blanket, so not to get distorted.

Hope that helped. Should you need any assistance, please let me know.

Happy Hooking
