Crochet/joining motifs and dropping a loop, then picking it up later

Question
I am crocheting a Candi Dot Lace Shell. The directions said to crochet one motif square and finish it. The directions then said to crochet a second motif and join it with the first one. Here are the directions I do not understand.  ....holding motifs with wrong sides together, ch3, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back through corresponding ch-sp on previous motif and pick up dropped loop, ch3...  The pattern I am following is from a Leisure Arts book, called Relaxed Fashion. Thank you

Answer
If you hold the two motifs together like it says you will see holes along the edge where you are putting it together. Use those holes created in the pattern going through both pieces to pick up the ch3 loop that you temporarily drop.

Sorry...without making a video this is hard to describe any better than it is.
