Question
I am trying to crochet grannie squares.  I am going off of a pattern in "The Ultimate Blankets Handbook" 2011 (From "Crochet Today")on page 90.  It says:
Round 2: Ch 3, turn; (2 dc ch 2, 3 dc) in first corner ( i understand that part) ch-2 sp, ch 1 [(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp, ch 1] 3 times  ( all of this I am lost)
Please help.
Thank you,
-Kelli

Answer
Kelli:

Thanks for the question.

For row two, you are establishing the increase needed for a grannie square blanket. Hopefully I will be able to explain it where you can get it.

The chain one is the space needed for the following row, so that the stitches on the next row will go into.

On the corner of the piece, after making the first one, will have 3dc, ch2, 3dc, following with a ch1. As the blanket grow, you will always do this to the corners of the pattern. The stitch allow is to fan, so that the corners have a rounded edge. The 3dc, ch2, 3dc will always be done on the ch2 space in the corner.

Hopefully this will make sense. Should you need any assistance, please let me know.

Good luck, Happy Hooking
