Question
QUESTION: Help!!!  I am having such a difficult time with the reversing armhole and neck shaping for Vanna's Choice Everyday Elegance Cardigan!  The first row(RS):  Turn,sl st in first 4 dc,ch 4 (counts as dc,ch1),finish row in established pattern-10 ch-1 sp.  The other 2 rows only get worse.  Can you help? Thanks, Kelly

ANSWER: Kelly:

Thanks for the question. Sorry for the delay

I am not sure where you are having the issue, but I will write out the pattern row.

Once you turn, you will do slip stitches on the first four double crochet, then you will do a chain four (this is a dc and a chain 1) after this you will finish the row in the pattern established. At the end of that row, you should have a total of 10 - chain one spaces.

I believe once you get the first row done, row two will fall into place.

Should you need any assistance, please let me know

QUESTION: Thanks for getting back to me, Ed.  I did the pattern fine already as the instructions stated.  The problem is doing it in reverse, that's where I can't "wrap my head around" the reversing of it.  Can you explain the rosw 1-4 on the armhole and shaping?
Thnaks,
Kelly

Answer
Kelly:

I am sorry, I misunderstood the question.

Now reversing. You started the shaping on the right side of the garment, that is why you did the 4 slip stitches. The opposite would be reading the pattern from end to beginning, BUT you do not need to do the slip stitches at the end, since you need those last 4 unworked, to match the other side,

Now one way you can also do this is, since you have the right side done, flip it, and you will see how the left needs to be done. The only things I suggest is to mark the right side, so you know who is who.

Hopefully this will help.
