Crochet/Ripple Blanket Fanning Out

Question
Doing my first ripple afghan, and am perplexed as to why it seems to be "fanning out, as I progress, even though the number of stitches in each row remains the same. Up till now, I always considered myself an experienced crocheter (doilies, edgings, simple blankets, picture frames, filet crochet), but this has me stumped!

It is a simple ripple pattern in double-crochet, with 5 dc between each "mountain" and "valley."

I would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance!!

Answer
Hi Patty!
Thanks for asking! II have recently made three ripple afghans, but with sc. I looked through my ripple crochet patterns to find a pattern similiar to what you have.  I do have a lot of afghan leaflets. but I decided it would be quicker if you could please send me the pattern. Then I'll get going and try to see what the trouble is. It is always possible that the pattern may have a typo. I have seen this happen before. I hope to hear from you soon!

Expertise

I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in the afghan stitch, or hairpin lace. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Nearly all of my crochet magazines, leaflests, etc are over 5 years old. Many are from the 80's and before. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience

I have been a crocheter for over 30 years.
