Crochet/beginning a round with a decrease

Question
I am crocheting a doilie called "Peppermint Hearts".  At the beginning of round nine and ten it reads, "Dec 1 dc over next 2 dc, dc in each of next 4 dec, etc.  On this pattern, I am supposed to start each round with a chain 3 as the first dc.  How do I do that and also dec 1 dc over next 2 dc at the beginning of the round.  I am determined to get this right.  Hopefully you can help.  I will scan the pattern and send it to you if it will help. The pattern can also be found in the book, Heirloom Doilies from House of White Birches.  Thank you.

Thanks for the question, sorry for the delay in replying.

since the ch3 counts as a Dc, the decrease then its done after that. Most of the time the ch3 does not count as a dc, so the decrease would be done at the first stitch.

Hopefully this will help you. Should you need any assistance, please let me know.

Happy Hooking
