Crochet/Baby Afghan by Terry Kimbrough

Question
Book: 2001 Best of Terry Kimbrough #3267, #24 Baby Blanket, shown on page 33, instructions on pages 57 & 58. My questions is, I am working on the first ruffle and it looks fine (nice ruffle)on the sides that are the beginning and end of rows.  The top & bottom edges don't ruffle, they are very straight.  I have checked the instructions and my stitches several times and cannot find any mistakes. Is it possible there is an error in the book? Any idea on how I can fix this?

Thank you
Annette

Answer
Hi Annette!
I'm back again. I went and took a long look at the picture of the afghan again, and it looks like from the piture that the sides do ruffle more than the top and bottom so I guess that is the way the stitching does comes out. Just thought I would let you know. Good luck!

Expertise

I have crocheted many doilies, I enjoy working with crochet thread. I have crocheted numerous afghans. But I have little to no experience in the afghan stitch, or hairpin lace. If you have a question pertaining to a pattern in a magazine, book or leaflet, please include the name and # of it, and the page or pattern #. There is a slight possibility I may have that pattern, and can refer to it. Nearly all of my crochet magazines, leaflests, etc are over 5 years old. Many are from the 80's and before. Although I have crocheted sweaters and slippers,I don't feel I have done enough of them to really give good advice as to assembling the pieces, but can give advice on the type of stitches.

Experience

I have been a crocheter for over 30 years.
